  • Cockaponset State Forest -
    - This extremely large forest offers a plethora of trails. You'll easily spend a lot of time finding one to call a favorite, from its selection of rolling single-tracks to its technical challenges. Watch out for cars along the freeway in some sections, and be mindful of the time as it can be easy to get lost.
  • The Mianus Maze -
    - Suitable for beginners and intermediates, this trail system is located in the Mianus River Park near Geenwich. Despite being bundled up into a 220 acre park, there are 14 miles worth of trail in this network to bike across.
  • West Hartford Reservoir -
    - Ride your bike up a 400 foot steep incline, and get ready to cruise. Watch out for obstructions on the single-track trails, and make sure to announce yourself when approaching walkers from behind. This popular trail is suitable for all skill levels of riders.
  • Huntington State Park -
    - Tranquil on its facade, this set of terrain is full of short, steep climbs and unmarked trails. Keep an eye out for loose gravel and heavy erosion on some descents as well.
  • Nepaug State Forest - Rough terrain abounds in Nepaug State Forest. Be prepared for rocks, roots, and sand-swept fireroads throughout this trail. Be prepared to climb, as well!

  • Meshomasic State Forest -
    - Tenacious climbers are welcome here, as there will be a lot of upward mobility with a lont, fast downhill payoff. The forest is large, so make sure you're well supplied.
  • Babcock Preserve -
    - A nice trail for the novice looking to get his or her feet wet. While rocky, and with trecherous mud after rainfalls, this trail is short enough to take a few times over.
  • Pennwood State Park -
    - Feeling adventurous? Want a full-on technical challenge? The west trail takes you very close to the edges of cliffs. If you're inexperienced, you should not attempt to ride over all obstacles on the single-track trails.
